Our Programs
Our Full Time Program
Infants and Toddlers
The activities provided for very young children at HCCC revolve around their individual needs for food, sleep, nurturing, movement, language and trust. The teachers work to create a curriculum and environment where these needs are met. The room design and daily schedule of these two rooms reflects this focus.
Infant Room
2014/2015 Weekly Tuition Rate: $340
Daily curriculum activities include but are not limited to: physical needs being met (feeding, changing diapers, etc.), fine motor opportunities (reaching and grabbing for toys, stacking objects), gross motor opportunities (crawling, rolling, floor time), language experiences (singing, books, conversations), holding, rocking and plenty of "face time".
Toddler Room
2014/2015 Weekly Tuition Rate: $316
Daily curriculum activities focus on children learning through their play. These include but are not limited to: physical needs being met (feeding, changing diapers, learning to self-feed and other independent skills), fine motor opportunities (soft blocks, art, lacing cards, stacking toys, sensory tables), gross motor opportunities (outside play, running, dancing, climbing, riding and pushing toys), language experiences (singing, books, pictures, music, talking and socializing), social interactions (dramatic play, role playing), holding, rocking and plenty of "face time". Outside time on the playground, walks around town in the carriages or buggies, are daily events, weather permitting. During inclement weather, older infants and toddlers play with balls, riding and pushing toys, soft mats and other developmentally appropriate toys in Jordan Hall.
Preschool 1
2014/2015 Weekly Tuition Rate: $277
In Preschool 1, the goal is to allow the children opportunities to develop their independence. This includes making decisions that affect themselves and their peers. The focus of their day is on the routine and consistency needed by children in this stage of development.
Preschool 2
2014/2015 Weekly Tuition Rate: $269
Preschool 2 focuses equally on the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of every child. Our goals for the children development include social interactions, conflict resolution, negotiation and cooperation. Children are also given pre-reading opportunities as they are ready and interested in them. HCCC helps children achieve those goals in a developmentally appropriate, child centered way.
PreK/Kindergarten
The PreK/Kindergarten program focuses on all areas of development for older Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten children. This includes working on cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills, as well as laying the ground work for basic literacy and emotional skills. The staff, in cooperation with the parents, nurture children's development and encourage self-challenge. As in all our programs, teachers design the program to meet the needs and interests of the children.
School Age Children
The School Age Child Care (SACC) program provides a before and after school care for kindergarten through second grade children. The resourceful, caring staff recognize the importance of adults in children's lives and of peer friendships. The staff give positive guidance to the children and help foster self control. Children are encouraged to learn by experimenting and exploring. Children are encouraged to try new challenges without pressure. Healthy competition is encouraged as is appropriate with older school-age children, but cooperation is emphasized. The staff teach the importance of safety with each other and equipment. Community awareness is also an important part of the SACC program.
Our Part Time Preschool
Part Time Preschool
HCCC offers a part time preschool from September through June. The preschool program offers a unique mixed age group of three and four year olds providing many opportunities for leadership and learning. The child centered curriculum focuses equally on the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development of each and every child. Learning occurs through the vast experiences available for experimentation and exploration. You can read more about the benefits of mixed age grouping here.
Schedule
Our program is designed to meet the needs of each individual child and family. Preschool classes run daily from 9-12. Families may choose which days they would like to enroll, registering for a minimum of two days per week with a maximum of five. Slots are assigned on a first come first serve basis.
There are extended days available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays until 2:45 for an additional fee. Lunch bunch is available on Wednesdays until 1:00 for an additional fee. Children are required to bring their lunch to both of these programs. Extended day & lunch bunch may be added on a weekly or daily basis.
Playgroup
The Holliston Community Children's Center supports a playgroup for children ages 0 through 3. This is a unique first social experience for young children and their caregivers. The group has weekly sessions on Thursday mornings. A facilitator is present to provide a nurturing environment and opportunities for young children.
A registration fee is required (scholarships are available) and enrollment is for each session (September to January and February to June).
